John Heckman Wright recently relocated to Portland, OR with his husband Brandon and their two cats (aka feline masters) Sarah and Salome.
John spent six years in Chicago, IL where he received an MFA Writing from the School of the Art Institute of Chicago. During his stint in Chicago he also worked in publishing, non-profit arts and social services, DJ’ed, was an Editor for the now defunct feminist zine PISTIL, and taught college.
John hails from a small town in Eastern Kentucky where he lived for 17 years before moving to Lexington to attend the University of Kentucky. There, he received a B.A. in English from the University in 2001, was awarded the Farquhar Award for Poetry.
John DJs and hikes the beautiful trails of the pacific northwest in his spare time.
